Dear friend

What glorious weather we had for the first Hub Picnic at Balls Head! A balmy summer evening saw about 35 people gather at the top of Balls Head for a relaxed get-together around the barbecue. This spot is perfect for picnics and Barbara and I were hoping that the weather would not let us down - it didn’t. The general consensus was that it was convivial and relaxed so you can expect another picnic in the Hub calendar, maybe in the spring.

This week saw most of the activities begin again - so many have a busy calendar. If you have missed out on a class do add your name to the waiting list.

Also add the Speaker to your calendar - this month it is Robin Gandevia whose experience of attending court proceedings is bound to fascinate. Tuesday Feb 13.

Plus the Men’s dinner on Feb 21 at Waterview.

For those who love a video you may enjoy Wilma and Betty from ‘The Flintstones’  picnicking and playing cards…

We avoided both mozzies and ants on Thursday - the biggest nuisance were the persistent Brush Turkeys - and the kookaburras! One of whom managed to help himself to some of Liane’s meal!!

Hope to see you around

Carol Fallows

President

Good friends catching up

Making the most of the barbecue

All smiles and good cheer

Toasting the picnic

Enjoying a glass of wine

in the evening light

Enjoying their meal with the ubiquitous Brush Turkey on the lookout

Intergenerational Program Opportunity for Adults 65+

Good afternoon,

My name is Amelia and I am Project Officer at The George Institute for Global Health. In collaboration with The University of New South Wales, this year we are running a 20-week Intergenerational Program to evaluate whether bringing pre-school aged children and adults (aged 65+) together to engage in meaningful and fun activities, can improve health and wellbeing outcomes for all!

You may be familiar with the ABC series “Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds.” This is the type of program we will be running, but now for community-dwelling adults of any age above 65 years old!

CLICK HERE .. to read more and see how you can become involved.
