Dear Hub Members
Nearly August! OMG. Another month of lockdown. Hope you are keeping healthy, safe and warm. I thought today I would start with some music for you to enjoy. We all know Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. Well listen to this one: Coronavirus Rhapsody sung by Raul Irabien – very clever indeed!

Life In Lockdown - Photography Competition
To make your walks more enjoyable, why not get your phone out, turn on the camera and take a photo of whatever pleases you – perhaps blooming magnolias, coffee queues, skateboarding dogs….anything. Send your photo to Julie Byrnes at jrbyrnes@gmail.com. One entry per member per week. At the end of August we will exhibit all the entries and allow members to select a winner. There will be a prize (flowers or bottle of wine) to the owner of the best photo. Good luck!
The Board of Waverton Hub Inc has scheduled the Annual General Meeting of the Hub for Tuesday 21 September at 10am. As per the Hub’s constitution, all Board Members are required to stand down and, if they choose, stand for re-election. We have a cohesive and productive board and I hope that current Board members will stand again. However board renewal is important and we have the capacity to take on more Board members. I therefore ask you to consider nominating yourself or a fellow Hub member to a board position. Information and nomination forms are available by emailing wavertonhub@gmail.com with the reference: Board Membership.
Finally, the Olympics….what a wonderful distraction from Covid….so much amazing sport and sportsmanship. I always love the swimming and haven’t our swimmers done well. Below is a photo of my TV screen showing our Women’s 4x100m winning team with their gold medals. Congratulations to all our athletes. A tremendous effort.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAM
Congratulations to Pam Wilster who recently celebrated her 90th Birthday. We wish you health and happiness and may you often win at Mahjong.
Pam has been attending the Games Day since 2017. She learnt to play Mahjong there. She and her partners, Barbara, Cathie and Pat have played every week until recently when the Lockdown put an end to that. They are all looking forward to September.
