Ken Wyatt (Commonwealth Minister for Aged Care) visits the Hub

< Previous

On Friday 11 August Ken Wyatt (Commonwealth Minister for Aged Care) met at the Botanica Café with Hub Board members ( Nelly Wong , Madeleine MacPherson Amanda David, and Helen L’Orange) and Activity leaders (Susan Silvan, Philip Pik, Dorothy Guetteres) and Hub Founding Member Chris Scarf, to hear about how the Hub works and how it benefits us. The Minister is keen to come along to one of our Gentlemen’s dinners and Graeme Pettigrew and Greg Blainey are arranging this.

The Minister was very taken with the Hub Model and our work to replicate the Hub including The Hub Manual on how to start a Hub and our work with groups interested in starting a Hub.

We had a productive discussion about how the Waverton Hub model fits in with future reforms for a more integrated Care at Home Program to support older Australians.

After the meeting we strolled down to the Waverton Hall. The Minister really liked the Hall and even commented on the good acoustics.

Thank you Steve Mullarkey for the photos
