The Big Time by David Williamson

The first outing is on Tuesday 12 March 2019, at 11am. It is David Williamson’s The Big Time at the Ensemble Theatre, a world premiere. As described by the Sydney Morning Herald, he is 'adept at seizing on social issues ... our most successful and prolific playwright'. Tickets are $60 each.

From Mark Kilmurry, Artsitic Director of the Ensemble: I am thrilled THE BIG TIME has opened and is a big hit! We are selling tickets very fast, so please be quick if you want to see David Williamson’s take on betrayal, success and showbiz. It was a real pleasure to work on this play with this cast and I am so glad audiences agree. ★★★★½ "Another hilarious and incisive theatrical experience." Celia and Vicki were best friends at drama school, but the game of life has dealt them very different hands. Celia is a high-profile soap star earning ridiculous amounts of money and the requisite harbourside views. Meanwhile Vicki is scraping by in gritty, critically acclaimed roles in independent theatre. When Vicki proposes they collaborate on an ambitious new film project, it could by a big opportunity for both of them to prove their mettle in the industry. But are Vicki's motives as well-intentioned as they seem, or will jealousy rear its ugly head? David Williamson's trademark satirical pen finds razor-sharp form in this clever, stylish and sophisticated comedy set in the ruthless world of celebrity.
